Chris Brown

Chris Brown--singer, songwriter, dancer and actor—was born in Tappahannock, Virginia on May 5, 1980. From a young age, he was involved in his church choir and several local talent shows. And he attended Essex High School in Virginia until early 2005, when he moved to New York to pursue his music career—the same year he released his self-titled debut studio album. That album peaked at number two on the US Billboard 200 and was later certified double platinum in America, selling an overall three million copies worldwide.

In 2007, Chris Brown made his film debut in Stomp the Yard, and has most notably appeared in This Christmas (2007), Takers (2010), Think Like a Man (2012), and Battle of the Year (2013).

In addition to his solo commercial success, Brown has been featured a looootttt of other singles as well. But amongst all of this success, Chris has had many problems. In 2009, he was sentenced to five years of probation and six months of community service after pleading guilty to felony assault of his then girlfriend, singer Rihanna. His criminal record continued to grow over the next several years. Luckily for him though, Chris Brown’s artistry and body of work has outshined those legal issues.

Chris Brown is one of the world's best-selling music artists, with over 100 million records sold worldwide. And he’s won a Grammy Award as well as several BET Awards, Billboard Music Awards, and Soul Train Music Awards. And according to Billboard, Chris Brown has the seventh most Hot 100 entries on the chart.

And Chris Brown’s output continues on. This year, he signed a new license agreement with this label RCA Records and he will now own his master recordings, which makes him one of the youngest artists to do so (at the age of 29). And his new album, “Indigo” is available this month and will be supported by his “Indigoat Tour” stopping at the Hampton Coliseum on September 7th.
