Lexus Arnel Lewis, aka Lex Luger, was born March 6, 1991 in Suffolk. Growing up, Luger played percussion for his church, and eventually saved some money for equipment and established VABP (Virginia Boyz Productionz) with his high school friends. To further chase his musical dreams, he dropped out of King’s Fork High School after the 10th grade and began making as many beats as he could and posted them on MySpace. He built a relationship with an unknown rapper by the name of Waka Flocka Flame. Eventually Luger headed out to Atlanta so they could collaborate, and in 2010, Waka Flocka Flame’s “Hard In The Paint” became Lex Luger’s first beat on the radio.
From there, Luger went on to produce songs “H.A.M” for Kanye West and Jay-Z, “B.M.F.” for Rick Ross and many more. Luger went on to produce more than 200 songs throughout 2010 and 2011 which led him to receive the title of Producer of the Year at the 2011 BET Awards.
Since then, Luger joined forces with A-Trak for some projects, has played all over the world as a live act with his DJ, Kino Beats, has released a full length instrumental project and more. But throughout all of this success, Luger battled with drug addiction for years and was hospitalized four times. Luckily, he stopped doing hard drugs in 2017 and started rebuilding his relationships and focus and getting back to the music.
