UPDATE: FEDERAL JUDGE: Son Killed, Husband Wounded in Home Attack #dablock

UPDATE (1:30 p.m. ET): Law enforcement says the suspected gunman has been found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He's believed to be a lawyer who may have had a case with the judge's husband. (NY Post)

The son of a federal judge was shot and killed and her husband wounded Sunday at their New Jersey home by a suspect dressed like a FedEx driver, law enforcement officials confirmed.

U.S. District Judge Esther Salas was not hurt in the attack, which is being investigated by the FBI, U.S. Marshals and local authorities.

The attack occurred at the family's home in North Brunswick, when the assailant, dressed like a FedEx delivery man, showed up and shot 63-year-old Mark Anderl and 20-year-old Daniel Anderl Salas was reportedly in the basement at the time.

Daniel Anderl died while his father was transported to a hospital for surgery.

The 51-year-old Salas, who was nominated for the bench by Barack Obama, is New Jersey's first Latina U.S. District Court judge. She's been involved in a number of notable cases, including the trial of Joe and Teresa Giudice ofThe Real Housewives of New Jersey. (The Washington Post)
