This Is Where Virginia Ranked Among Best States To Raise A Family

Virginia is among the best places to raise a family in the United States, according to a recent study.

WalletHub ranked the Virgina No. 17 for its list of the best and worst states to raise a family for 2021. The website said it considered career transitions, better schools, financial challenges or a general desire to change settings as factors in its rankings.

Virginia had a 51.75 total score and ranked 28th in "family fun," 13th in "health & safety," 17th in "education & child care," 19th in affordability," and 18th in "socio-economics."

Massachusetts topped the list with a 60.88 total score and ranked ninth in "family fun," 10th in "health & safety," third in "education & child care," sixth in affordability," and 21st in "socio-economics."

New Mexico ranked as the worst state to raise a family, followed by Mississippi, West Virginia, Louisiana and Oklahoma.
