DAPPER DAN: Addresses Gucci Controversy

The fashion designer, who collaborated with Gucci last year, posted a statement to Instagram, where he wrote, “I am a Black man before I am a brand.” He says that yet another fashion house has “gotten it outrageously wrong” and that “no excuse nor apology can erase this kind of insult.” The CEO of Gucci has apparently vowed to fly from Italy to Harlem to meet with Dan, members of the community and other industry leaders. The iconic designer ended his statement by promising to “hold everyone accountable.” Gucci has stopped selling the controversial garment, and issued an apology for any insensitivity.
