According to TMZ, Kelly's lawyers filed new legal documents arguing that the seven-figure tax lien should give the court a substantial reason to release the singer while the COVID-19 pandemic unfolds. He believes he's at substantial risk of contracting the virus.
Prosecution believes that Kells is a flight risk because he still has access to residual income -- more than $200,000 in royalties since January. But his attorneys argue that all his income can be diverted to pay off Uncle Sam.
This is R. Kelly's second attempt at seeking release from prison -- the judge denied him the first time.
