DRAKEO THE RULER: Mom Calls Out YG, Plans Promoter Lawsuit

Darrylene Corniel tells Rolling Stone that she intends to file a lawsuit against numerous people involved with theOnce Upon a Time in L.A.festival, where the 28-year-old rapper was stabbed to death early Sunday morning. She says, "We plan to sue. This happened backstage at an event. Someone has to be held accountable. Your security is supposed to be in place. The whole program should have been orchestrated a lot better than what it was. And there should have been more protection."

While she stopped short of blaming YG directly, she said the trouble started when his crew poured backstage and "swamped" her son. Ms. Corniel stated, "They said there were, like, 40 to 60 people. Everything just happened so quickly. They started trying to jump them. [Drakeo's brother] was trying to fight, but when he turned around, he could see his brother with blood gushing out of him. He was like, ‘Did they stab you?’ It was like, there were so many of them."

Ms. Corniel also shared a tragic detail about Drakeo's final moments, saying that the hospital where he as transported "said it’s a homicide, so I wasn’t able to hug him or kiss him or anything like that. I had to look at him through a window."
