Fences centers on the Maxon family. Troy, a sanitation worker, is a former player in baseball’s Negro Leagues. His wife, Rose, runs the household. Their son, Corey, is trying to find his place in the house and in the world. Troy's inner conflicts take a toll on his wife and his son, and ultimately change his family forever.
