Timbaland is a record producer, rapper, singer, songwriter and DJ who was born Timothy Mosely on March 10, 1972 in Norfolk, Virginia and graduated from Salem High School in Virginia Beach. When he was young, he was known as "DJ Tim" or "DJ Timmy Tim" and as a teen, joined the production ensemble S.B.I. ('Surrounded By Idiots') which also featured producer Pharrell Williams.
In 1996, Timbaland made his mainstream breakthrough by producing the majority of Aaliyah's second album One in a Million and Ginuwine's debut album Ginuwine...the Bachelor. In 1997, he fully produced Supa Dupa Fly, the debut album of childhood friend Missy Elliott. That same year he released his first album with his partner Magoo, Welcome to Our World.
Since then, Timbaland has produced tracks for the biggest names in music including Jay-Z, Nas, Ludacris, Madonna, Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, Brandy, Drake, Rick Ross and more. His production has been so influential that in 2007, Entertainment Weekly stated that "just about every current pop trend can be traced back to him.”
Timbaland is still producing some of the biggest hits for some of the biggest names in music and this year, he began teaching through Masterclass where he shares his insight on production and beatmaking.
