DaBaby Pays Homage To Charlotte Stabbing Victim Iryna Zarutska In New Video

DaBaby has joined the chorus of people who are mourning the loss of Iryna Zarutska by paying tribute to her in his new music video.

On Tuesday, September 16, the seasoned rapper dropped the music video for his new song "Save Me." The visuals, directed by DaBaby himself, begin with a news report about the tragic incident that happened in his hometown of Charlotte, N.C. You can see Zarutska enter the train and sit in front of the suspect Decarlos Brown Jr. A few minutes later, Brown stands up and fatally stabs Zarutska in the neck several times.

DaBaby raps the song while acting like a bystander who was sitting on the train when the gruesome attack unfolded. He watches as the actor who portrays Brown sits uncomfortably, as the actress who plays Zarutska enters the train. The rapper looks on in the moments leading up to the horrific slaying. However, instead of letting it happen, DaBaby intervenes as soon as Brown stands up with his knife in hand. The video ends by showing what would've happened if someone tried to stop Brown in his tracks.

At the end, you can see DaBaby and the actor portraying the killer being surrounded by security guards from the Charlotte Area Transit System. The scene is actually what happened while they were filming the video. In a statement that was issued after the video went live, CATS confirmed they did not give DaBaby permission to film on the train and weren't involved with the music video.

"CATS was not involved in this filming, nor did we grant permission,” the statement said. “This filming was reported last night via the CATS See-Say Application in the CATS-Pass App at which time security responded by escorting them off the vehicle as per the video."

Brown, who reportedly suffers from schizophrenia, was arrested and released 14 times before he attacked Zarutska on August 22. He was charged with one count of committing an act causing death on a mass transportation system. Brown faces a maximum sentence of life in prison without parole or death, if he's convicted.
