If you didn't get to see, or smell, Lady Macdeath this weekend, you missed it! Norfolk Botanical Garden's rare corpse flower bloomed Saturday, drawing lines up to three hours long and selling out tickets as folks lined up for a whiff of that famous rotting-flesh smell. But like all corpse flower blooms, it was short-lived, and by Monday she was already wilting.
Here's the wild part: now that she's bloomed, Lady Macdeath is headed into a dormancy period that could last 2 to 10 years before she blooms again. So if you missed her, you might be waiting a while for round two! The good news? Her remaining corpse is still on display at the Baker Hall Visitor Center if you want to catch a final glimpse. Rest in peace (for now), Lady Macdeath 💐
