A long awaited announcement - Joe Biden has selected his running mate a California senator, Kamala Harris. If elected this would make Harris the nation's first female, first Black and first Asian-American vice president.
Harris was previously a 2020 Democratic candidate going against Biden and dropped out of the race in 2019 after running out of funding and struggling with the polls. You'll recall during the first primary debate, Harris and Biden clashed over racial issues.
Earlier a few black male leaders from Diddy, to Charlamagne Tha God, Timbaland, Ty Dolla $ign, and Akon + over 700 women all signed an open letter to Biden urging him to select a Black woman as his running mate.
