The Big Ten Postpones Football Season + Other Fall Sports

Nebraska v Indiana

It seems everything is getting cancelled this year due to this pandemic.

The Big Ten conference has announced it will postpone the fall football season and attempt to play instead in the spring. Big Ten commissioner, Kevin Warren, put out a statement saying " The mental and physical health and welfare of our student-athletes has been at the center of every decision we have made regarding the ability to proceed forward. As time progressed and after hours of discussion with our Big Ten Task Force for Emerging Infectious Diseases and the Big Ten Sports Medicine Committee, it became abundantly clear that there was too much uncertainty regarding potential medical risks to allow our student-athletes to compete this fall."

This update comes just a week after The Big Ten announced its intention to move forward with a 10-game schedule for the 2020 season. This makes The Big Ten the third Football Bowl Subdivision to shut down its fall sports due to the pandemic.
