Man Who Drove Truck Through BLM Protest in Oceanfront Sentenced to 3 Years

Remember Emanuel "Manny" William Wilder?

He drove his truck through a crowd at the Oceanfront in Virginia Beach during a Black Lives Matter protest for George Floyd on May 31st. In an interview with WAVY-TV 10 he claimed he was not racist and his goal "was never to hit anyone." He was originally just charged with four misdemeanors - disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace, abusive language, and reckless driving. Then he showed up late to a court hearing and fled the state in another court hearing ultimately not even showing up. He was then hit with another charge, failure to appear.

One good thing that came of it though is the leader of Black Lives Matter 757, JaPharii Jones, expressed their forgiveness towards Wilder. “With it all coming out and (Wilder) being brought to justice, we forgive him. We forgive Manny Wilder."

With Wilder already being in jail for the last 140 days, he was sentenced to three years of active jail time. No word yet on if he will get time served.
