Imagine being invited to Obama's birthday celebration! Guests originally included Oprah Winfrey, George Clooney, and Michael Jordan. As close as he was to the Carters, Beyoncé and Jay-Z, it wouldn't be a huge surprise to see them in attendance as well. Performers such as John Legend, Common, and DJ D-Nice were also expected at the bash that had HUNDREDS on the guest list. Yes, Obama is aware of the Delta variant of COVID-19 just like the rest of us which is why he was taking all precautions to stay in compliance with CDC guidelines such as they’re allegedly hiring a doctor to serve as a “COVID Coordinator” to make sure that everyone is compliant, testing for guests and a COVID safety coordinator on site, Invitees also must submit their negative test results to a COVID-coordinator within a certain time window before the event, and it was even to be held outdoors with a guest list of over 400 people with 200 hired staff.
After the recent quick spread of the Delta variant and a lot of backlash, Obama has decided to scale back his exclusive bday bash to only family and close friends. “This outdoor event was planned months ago in accordance with all public health guidelines and with COVID safeguards in place,” Hannah Hankins, a spokeswoman for Obama, said in a statement Wednesday provided to CNN. “Due to the new spread of the delta variant over the past week, the President and Mrs. Obama have decided to significantly scale back the event to include only family and close friends."
