Drake and his team made the decision to withdraw his two nominations from the 2022 Grammy Awards.
The Certified Lover Boy was nominated for Best Rap Album for his sixth studio record and Best Rap Performance for his single Way 2 Sexy ft. Young Thug and Future. After breaking Spotify records, and becoming the eighth artist in Billboard history to have 10 number one albums, fans speculated the withdrawal had everything to do with the blatant snub.
This is not the first time Drake has chosen not to participate in the Grammys. He declined to submit his 2018 album "More Life" as well.
This scenario is very reminiscent of The Weeknd whose name was nowhere to be found this year in the Grammy nominations. He has vowed to never submit music to the Grammy Awards again calling the lack of recognition "an attack". "I think the infrastructure of the awarding system and the nomination system and screening system is dated," he said. "I'd rather this be my Colin Kaepernick moment for the Grammys than sit there in the audience."
