Doja Cat is ready for her next album despite having to take a break from music while she recovers from emergency tonsil surgery.
Her Grammy-nominated album Planet Her leaned more towards a pop vibe with features from artists such as SZA, Ariana Grande, and The Weeknd. This next album will be a different vibe as the artist says fans can expect mostly rap on this one. “I’ve rapped since the beginning, and I really couldn’t even sing that well to begin with—I got a lot better,” Doja said. “I use my voice as a tool to create these worlds, and it’s fine if people think that I can’t rap.”
There's been a huge debate recently on whether or not Doja Cat can be considered a rapper. Even Remy Ma chimed in on a recent interview of Drink Champs, “I don’t think she’s a rapper,” Remy said. “Let’s be clear with that. They put her in the rapper category, I don’t think she’s a rapper. But she makes dope records, and I think she’s dope.”
Maybe this next album can end the debate once and for all.
