Chesapeake to Honor Victims in Walmart Mass Shooting Today

The City of Chesapeake and the families of the victims involved are still mourning today after a tragic mass shooting inside Walmart.

Today at 6 p.m. a candlelight vigil is set to be held at Chesapeake City Park. Speakers at the vigil will include Mayor West, Gov. Glenn Youngkin, Chesapeake City Council Member Don J. Carey, III, and retired Chief of Police Kelvin Wright.

Last Tuesday, November 22, Andre Bing, 31, shot and killed six people and injured at least three others before turning the gun on himself. The Walmart location has remained closed since the incident. A Walmart spokesperson says they are working closely with employees and are currently “receiving input” regarding the best time to reopen the location.

If you are planning to attend tonight's candlelight vigil, parking for affected families and handicapped parking will be available by Fun Forest.
